This is my favorite kind of tree we see as we drive to Savusavu. It is shaped like a palm tree, but it looks like a fern. The Fijians say it is a prehistoric tree, now an endangered species. I have always gotten the feeling of awe as I look at them. Now I know it is a real honor and privilege to be able to see them in the tops of the mountains.
These three mountain peaks are called the Three Sisters. Our young missionaries climbed the highest peak for a special Preparation Day Activity.
District ready to start climbing |
This is where we waited. Isn't it beautiful! |
Mile a Minute Plant. This was brought in during the war to hide army tanks. It grows really quickly and covers plants, trees, etc. |
We drove Sister Kora and Sister Eneri through Siberia to a place from which our District could hike to the top of the Three Sisters. Rex sweetly stayed at the base with me. We Facetimed family, played games, and enjoyed the beauty of Fiji while there were gone for a couple of hours.
They called from the peak and asked if we could see them. Rex asked if they could see the trucks. No.
Rex announced, “Well, if you can’t see us, we can’t see you.”
It was perfect weather. They came home tired but happy. They loved the experience and the magnificent view from the top.
