We had a wonderful trip to
Savusavu with Sister Kora and Sister Eneri for Zone Leader Training. The sisters
were like excited little kids on vacation. They were looking out the window,
pointing, and enjoying. They, absolutely loved the ride with the fern palm
trees, waterfall, mile a minute plant, green scenery and Savusavu Bay. They
laughed and talked with us the whole trip there and back. It made the drive go
really quickly, and it was a delight for us to have them.
Waterfall seen from the road across a huge valley!
The ZTM was good. They taught
us how to handle investigator concerns, to have courage to stand, to avoid
gossip, to be careful in driving, etc. It is always inspirational feeling the
spirit of young missionaries in a group. They are God’s Army, full of faith,
obedience, and good works. We ate at The Captain’s Table on the water’s edge.
We loved sharing the day with the sisters.

When we got home, we took
them to Brother Reo’s house where they would have dinner. We went home to rest
for an hour, and then took the Elders to Brother Chetty’s. Their plan was teach
Siwami her final review before she was interviewed for baptism. However, when
we got there, Siwami and her mother were just leaving to go to a wedding
reception. They were dressed in Hindi attire and looked beautiful. They left,
and we stayed and visited with Brother Chetty for a while. Of course, his shared
his delicious ice boxes (popsicles) with us. He invited us to come back Friday
at noon for lunch and for Siwami’s baptismal interview.
We went the next day at noon
where Siwami passed her final interview for baptism. She will be baptized
Easter Sunday after church. Such a little sweetheart! We are excited for her
and her family. They treated us with ice boxes, and after the interview they served
us a delicious meal. Sister Chetty is an excellent cook. They waited for us to
serve ourselves, and then they got their plates and ate with us. We loved the
food, and it is always fun to be there with them. Brother Chetty was born in
1970, so young, and yet he reminds me of my father. He is one of the best
farmers around, intelligent, and talks easily on any subject. I enjoy being
with him and his family. He was very sad that his son could not fly up from
Suva to be here for Siwami’s baptism. During the night, I thought of an idea.
As a result, we got permission today from President St. John to set up a Skype
session so he can be part of the baptism, as our children had done for us to be
there for Dima and Andrea. We are praying the technology will cooperate. It is
our gift to the family.
Take care everyone!
Love you!
